Fakenham SIxth Form has a fully comprehensive intake of about 80 students per year, offering a wide range of level 2 and 3 courses. It is predominantly fed by its associative High School and also recruits students from a number of rural and coastal comprehensive schools in North Norfolk. Approximately 55% of Fakenham Sixth Form students proceed to Higher Education. Fakenham is in the POLAR quintile 1 for access to higher education.
The school including the sixth form closed to year 12 students on 23rd March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Throughout this period students were set their work on Google classrooms to complete and did not have access to “live” online lessons. North Norfolk has a notoriously poor internet network and many students struggle to gain a reliable connection.
Due to closure students did not experience the tutorial programme in the summer term which prepares them for applying to university. In addition the Higher Education Evening for students and parents was cancelled and the presentation placed online.
The year 12 students formal mock examinations in June were replaced by online assessments. The results from these alongside previous December assessments and student work have been used to determine predicted grades.
