Year 7 have been building on core skills needed to appreciate the world around them. Part of this involves learning how to read maps precisely and use scale, symbols, direction and grid references. 6 figure grid references are particularly challenging so we made grid reference readers, or a personalised Pac man (for those of us who can remember that far back). Students decorated these and used them to measure precise locations of points on a map. Fun,useful and transferable, I spotted some 6th formers using their Year 7 map skills when planning their D of E route this morning. Well done Year 7, some excellent geography work in your first year at FAN so far..
